Summary

Due to increasing student numbers and school development priorities we are looking for a Designated Safeguarding Lead who will help us to deliver a high quality provision for our students and their families. This role will be part of our Senior Leadership Team, which will ensure that Safeguarding is central to all strategic developments.

Our school values underpin all we do. They are ‘we are kind and respectful, we nurture relationships, we are lifelong learners, we communicate positively and we celebrate individualism.’

No day is the same at Bents Green and the students bring personality, surprise and variety to our school. It can be a challenging environment to work in, and the successful candidates will demonstrate they are committed to this student group and have the resilience to start each day afresh with a smile.

We are passionate about ensuring that all our students receive the best education possible, preparing them for adult life outside school and helping them to become respected and valued members of society. We are proud of the individuals that make our school community, and the successful candidates will be inclusive practitioners who recognises and celebrates diversity.

It is an exciting time to join us and support us with continuous development and change. We see the unique potential in each individual. We are looking for leaders with strong ethos and values that are aligned with ours. Successful candidates will be a part of a highly committed leadership team, and support all staff to ensure that we continue to provide an outstanding safeguarding service to all our students and families. The ability to drive is desirable as the role will require moving between sites.
Our staff are both dedicated and highly skilled and contribute to a very nurturing and kind school. We are proud to have been awarded the Trauma Informed Schools award, and building relationships with students and their families is central to our practice. Trauma Informed Practice has informed the development of our behaviour policy and approaches, and any successful candidates will be able to demonstrate they share these values.
We are looking to recruit a Designated Safeguarding Lead who will work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team, the large Safeguarding Team and the whole staff. They will be working towards clear strategic objectives, and take responsibility for key areas of school development. They will be able to lead a large team across our 4 sites, and plan and prepare staff development for all staff ensuring everyone is up to date with current legislation and contextual safeguarding concerns. The successful candidate will have good empathic skills, and be able to develop positive caring but professional relationships with all our families. They will be highly organised, and have excellent communication skills ensuring that they secure the best possible outcomes for our students. Experience of advocating for our students and their families in Child Protection Conferences, Child in Need meetings and other multidisciplinary meetings is essential.
The successful candidate should:
