Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our exceptional Payroll Team. The Payroll Services Department provides an efficient Payroll, Pensions and Travel/Expenses service to approximately 10000 monthly paid Trust employees, as well as 1400 employees for a client organisation.
Our department provides an accurate and timely payroll using the ESR payroll system, and ensures a customer service to a high standard. It is therefore important that you are self-motivated, reliable, numerate and have excellent communication skills.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to undertake this challenging role. You must be able to manage a busy workload whilst functioning as part of a team in order to meet strict deadlines.
You should have a minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English, at Grade C or above, as well as a sound knowledge of Statutory Legislation relating to PAYE, National Insurance and all Statutory Payments for sickness and parental leave.
Ideally, you should be familiar with the ESR payroll system and also have gained a good level of knowledge / skills in MS Office packages.

NHS Foundation Trust and client organisations.
The organisation is currently launching its new improvement focus in the form of an improvement system called We Care. The We Care System is
a fundamentally new model that the organisation will be shifting to, it champions empowerment, promotes innovation and will bolster the
connection and collaboration of staff throughout the organisation.
The We Care System utilises a multi-layered approach to improvement allowing staff to develop and produce a variety of ideas to combat the
issues and problems that have been identified. The system allows for the deployment of:
• Strategic Initiatives which are long term projects and focus led and driven by our executive
• Trust Priority Improvement Projects which are short term projects allocated to a range of project teams made up from our staff groups
focusing on impacting our True North metrics and breakthrough objectives
• Ward Based OMS which delivers daily management and continuous improvement on the frontline
Main duties of the job
To provide an effective, accurate and timely Payroll, Pensions, Travel and Expenses Service for all employees of East Kent Hospitals University
NHS Foundation Trust and client organisations.
Main duties include: -
• Validate the accuracy of the payroll and make any necessary adjustments before payment is made by matching with prime documents
and through the use of exception reports.
• Validate the accuracy of the pension records ensuring inconsistencies are rectified.
• Ensure the correct calculation and payment of Statutory and Occupational Sick and Maternity Pay, in accordance with statutory and
organisational provisions so that employees receive the correct level of payment promptly.
• Provide information and respond to enquiries from staff, managers and other departments and external agencies accurately and in a
timely manner to ensure the maintenance of good employee relations.
