Summary

The Community Access team are the ‘front door’ into adult social care, they give Information advice, guidance and support on care and support for adults. They carry out initial assessments, signpost to other services as and when required. The team is integrated with Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Social Care Assessors, and Occupational Therapy Assistants. Assessments are mainly telephone based but with opportunities to carry out home visits when required.

As a customer relations officer, you will be critical in providing a frontline service by being the first point of contact made to the department by members of the public, council staff and other agencies. This will be via a variety of mediums such as direct calls, portal submissions requesting support through the council’s website, and emails/systems. As you will be required to work on both call taking and IT systems, an ideal candidate will have a professional telephone manner, be a skilled communicator, be organised and have good computer literacy. Support will be given to expand on your community knowledge; some prior knowledge is desirable.

By undertaking preliminary screenings, you will help provide an efficient and effective service for the customer, collate sources of information and contacts to help keep our computerised records up to date and accurate to help streamline our service. You will have:

NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social care or equivalent (Desirable).
Be required to undertake an enhanced DBS plus Adults and Childrens Barred List (Essential).
Experience in working directly or indirectly with the public
An understanding of the principles and practises of care
Excellent customer service skills
Effective teamwork and organisational skills
The ability to self-manage workloads within timescales for the completion of tasks
You are confident, energetic, and enthusiastic as well as sensitive and resilient
Effective interpersonal and communication skills including an excellent telephone manner
The ability to manage difficult customer situations
