Information Support Assistant

Serco is contracted to provide Total Facilities Management to the Defence Academy of the UK (DA). This prestigious establishment is responsible for post-graduate education and most of the command, staff, leadership, Defence management, acquisition, and technology training for members of the UK Armed Forces and MOD Civil Servants. Serco supports the DA as the MOD's primary link with UK universities and international military educational institutions.
Serco have an exciting new role as a Information Support Assistant who will be working within the Information Hub. You will be working in a challenging and varied customer service environment. You will liaise directly with the customer (including face to face, email and telephone enquiries) on a range of information administration duties.
Main Accountabilities:
- Operating alongside the customer, ensuring timely, high level, dedicated and quality support.
- Information management and administration, and all other iHub activities ensuring protocols, policies and standardisation adhered to.
- Management and support of collaborative working areas using Microsoft Teams
- Issue of MOD owned devices (e.g. laptops) and provision of first line support
- Advise staff on the effective use of IT applications available to their department
- Advise staff on the capabilities of collaborative and electronic ways of working.
- Provide workable solutions to issues/problems. Make sensible decisions and act based on best available information in the absence of customer.
- Close liaison and regular communication with Line Manager over departmental aims, objectives and issues within area of responsibility.
- Advice and support to other Information Support Assistants
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Excellent customer service skills, including an excellent telephone manner.
- Methodical in approach, innovative thinker, problem solving skills
- A desire to learn new skills
- PC literate, with an above average level of experience in MS Office and an interest in working with technology is desirable
