Summary

We’re thrilled to share an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and purposeful team at Gorton Central; our modern community centre - the place to learn, grow and connect.

The Centre Assistant will play a key role is ensuring the Centre is welcoming, inclusive and is compliant with our service and delivery standards.

The role can be delivered 25 hours over 3 days or 35 hours over 4 days, incorporating the Community Grocer Project Assistant role.

Key accountabilities:
Coordinating a high quality, welcoming and inclusive reception service at Gorton Central.
Preparing the centre for visitors including setting up rooms, equipment and refreshments.
Opening & closing procedures including cleaning.
Administering venue hire including dealing with enquiries, processing bookings, preparing rooms and obtaining evaluation.
Carry out signposting and referrals for Grocer members and centre participants.
Compiling and overseeing centre volunteer rotas.
Compile information, design and print centre timetable.
Compile information and distribute monthly newsletter and timetable.
Designing flyers in line with branding and marketing guides, ordering and distribution.
Carry out scheduled health and safety checks as instructed.
Arrange maintenance and repairs as instructed.
Order centre and office consumables.
Administer petty-cash and take cash to the bank (paying in).
Administer HMHC enquiry email accounts.
Complete centre data collection and monitoring processes as applicable.
General administration tasks.
Undertake fire warden duties

he 35 hour post also includes responsibility for coordinating the Community Grocers:
Coordinating membership, proactively seeking ways to improve the member experience.
Day to day supervision and development of the volunteer team.
Work collaboratively with Centre Manager to develop signposting and referral offer.
Facilitate engagement with partners and agencies at the Community Grocers.
Liaise with Fareshare and suppliers to monitor stock levels, ensuring a good value food offer.
Oversee health, safety and operational compliance for the project.
Opening and closing procedures including cleaning.
Complete 121 support conversations with members engaging them in further support and opportunities.

For this post, successful candidates will need to demonstrate their skills and experience of the following:

Experience in supporting, engaging and working with volunteers.
Good organising and planning skills, with an ability to prioritise multiple demands.
Passion for supporting people facing social exclusion and inequalities.
