The Trust has a national and international reputation for many of its specialist services and expertise. Including many specialist services within the surgical division such as Neurosurgery, Spinal, Intestinal Failure and HPB.
The successful post holder will become an integral part of the surgical and medical education pharmacy teams helping to optimise medications management for patients and to deliver teaching for medical students from the University of Nottingham whilst on their clinical attachments at the Trust.
Prior teaching experience is desirable but not essential and you should hold, or be expecting imminently to complete, a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy/Medicines Management or equivalent. In this role, it would also be highly desirable to possess an independent prescribing qualification and we are committed to providing you with the chance to enhance your career in this way.

In this split post you will have the following opportunities:

1. To work in the surgical division clinical pharmacy team, in one of the UK's largest acute teaching hospital trusts. Here you will become part of the enthusiastic and dynamic team providing clinical support to surgical specialty wards at Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust. You will be supported in your development and career by a number of specialist senior surgical pharmacists as well as the wider pharmacy team at NUH

2. To teach medical students from the University of Nottingham whilst on their clinical attachments across the trust. You will support their development through the sharing of learning related to therapeutics, medicines optimisation and the principles of safe prescribing. Joining this small and friendly team will offer you the chance to gain a teaching qualification, and arguably provide you with one of the best opportunities for further developing your clinical and therapeutics skills.

Both elements of the role provide the opportunity to work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team. You will also get the opportunity to line manage and mentor more junior pharmacists within the department, further building your career portfolio.

Please note you will be required to participate in a rostered flexible shift working system including weekend and bank holiday arrangements over a 7 day period and support the on-call pharmacists through the senior pharmacist back-up rota.
