This post has arisen for a Locum Consultant Radiologist within Clinical Radiology at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to support general radiology with interest in gastrointestinal as well as oncology imaging.

The post will involve 10 programmed activities of imaging support (8 DPAs plus 1.5 SPAs and 0.5 for on-call) and will predominantly require the provision of diagnostic radiology including cross sectional radiology reporting, an interest in gastrointestinal and oncology radiology with PET reporting will be supported and welcomed from a suitable candidate.

The post will cover both Chorley and Preston Hospital sites, but we also have some sub-specialty sessions at our new Community Diagnostic Centre.

You will be based within the Radiology Department at Royal Preston Hospital.

You will be joiningour large diagnostic and interventional imaging unit as it expands to provide services as part of a tertiary referral and major trauma centre development.

We support a large range of sub-specialities including neurosurgery, oncology, trauma, renal medicine and complex abdominal surgery. We would like to invite you to be a part of our exciting personnel and equipment expansion, including state of the art CT, PET-CT, SPECT-CT, hybrid interventional theatre, and 3T MRI scanner suite.

Thepost holder will be expected to take part in the management of the service and attend meetings of the Diagnostic Imaging Directorate, the Medical Staffing Committee, and such other committees he/she may be appointed to by clinical colleagues. The post holder may be expected to attend meetings convened by management, which directly affect the work of his/her department.

Opportunities to develop or maintain subspecialist interests will also be supported.

Duties will include all those duties normally expected of a radiologist in a similar sized Radiology department in the United Kingdom. The majority of the appointee’s time will be spent on clinical duties. In addition, the appointee will be expected to take part in the formal teaching and on-going audit programmes within the directorate as well as a full range of management duties commensurate with this role.







The Radiology Directorate comprises Radiology, Neuroradiology, Ultrasound, Vascular (general) Interventional Radiology, Chest Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, including SPECT scanning and Oncological Radiology. Mammography is performed at the Chorley and South Ribble Hospital site.
