Summary
The Vale Youth Service has an exciting opportunity arise within its management team. The Vale Youth Service is embedded within the Learning and Skills Directorate and, following its recent positive Estyn inspection earlier this year, is seeking a motivated youth work leader to take on the role of Youth Development Officer (YDO).
Within the YDO position, you will be joining an energetic and passionate management team of youth work professionals that aims to work in a cohesive and innovative way to meet the needs of young people in the Vale of Glamorgan. This will include embedding collaborative practice across the Service to ensure the best possible outcomes for young people are realised.

Pay Details: JNC Professional Grade Pt. 18-21 - £33,946-£36,447
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: Full-time position, 37 hours per week, including occasional evenings, weekends and residentials
Main Place of Work: Civic Offices, Barry (linked with the Council’s hybrid working model)

Description:
Work alongside/jointly with the other Youth Development Officer to support the development, creation, and ongoing direct leadership of the Vale Youth Service (both core and grant funded) to create a service that is fit for purpose and measures impact through the Youth Work Quality Mark for Wales, and the new ESTYN Youth Work inspection framework.
To lead and manage a service that aligns to the Youth Work Strategy for Wales and the Principles and Purposes of Youth Work to ensure high quality and appropriate youth work provision is in place to meet the needs and secure best possible outcomes for young people in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Be able to manage effective links and partnership working to ensure there is a co-ordinated approach to the delivery of appropriate youth services and targeted support for young people in the Vale of Glamorgan
About you
You will need:
A degree qualification in Youth and Community studies or professional JNC equivalent to and be registered as a Youth Worker with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
A minimum of 3 years’ experience of successfully operating at a team leader management level or higher.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in partnership in an education setting.
Significant experience of working with young people in a variety of settings.
Experience and knowledge of the Youth Engagement and Progression Framework for Wales, the 5-tier model, and Early Identification Tool (EIT Data).
Experience in report writing, delivering, and preparing presentations and reporting to local and national management/regional partnership boards.
Experience of using MIS to ensure an integrated approach to analysis of NEET data, whilst targeting programmes to improve results in an operational and transformational way.
Successful track record of leading, managing and developing people/staff and partnerships.
