UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHAMPTON BUSINESS SCHOOL

Business Development and Partnerships Officer

Inspiring a new generation of leaders and entrepreneurs

Southampton Business School (SBS) is placed at the centre of the University of Southampton – a top 100 University in the world (QS; US News & World Report) – and a founding member of the Russell Group of elite research UK universities. SBS hosts a vibrant and diverse community of scholars and students. Research activity within SBS is coordinated through ten multidisciplinary research centres. Ranked in the top quartile of the research-intensive business schools in the UK, SBS has an ambitious growth plan, which includes investments in people and relocation to a state of art business building.

About you - Extending expertise and excellence

Connecting more widely with key businesses and major public sector organisations is a key aim of Southampton Business School’s new strategy. In this varied and challenging role, you’ll work closely with our Director of Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise to develop our business interface and partnerships agenda, building new partnership initiatives to help drive our business school forward. You’ll help us nurture a range of collaborations that showcase our research impact and generate revenue for the school.

You’ll focus on identifying partners, establishing relationships, and developing and promoting our educational services. Constantly on the look-out for ways to embed partnerships and external interactions in the core curriculum, you’ll also work on a range of non-accredited short courses for the School.

On top of this, you’ll develop ideas for a wide range of enterprise activities and partnerships with businesses, and organise ways to connect with the business community, including conferences, seminars and master classes.

You’ll bring significant experience of building and sustaining partnerships in a commercial context or between an academic and commercial context. While a background in higher education is not essential, you’ll have a keen appreciation of current trends and issues in higher education. An enterprising self-starter, with strong project management skills, you’ll have the ability to think strategically, plan effectively, and negotiate productive partnerships. For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Professor Jeni Giambona, Director of Knowledge Exchange & Enterprise (j.giambona@soton.ac.uk)
