THE BUSINESS
Westray Recruitment Group is delighted to bring to you a client who are looking for a kitchen assistant.
You will be working for a company known for designing and building systems across many technology areas, including subsea burial, foundation & cable installation, lifting & handling, and access.
The business is values-led and are looking for people who mirror these values of respect, integrity and teamwork. They provide 3 meals a day for their hard-working team and believe everyone should down tools and enjoy some time away from their desks.
THE ROLE
The role itself would be to assist the Head Chef with food preparation for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is a fast-past environment in which a high level of cleanliness would be expected.
Your duties include:
- Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to the menu (assisting the head chef with this)
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and sanitised work station at all times.
- Following food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure the health and safety of staff.
- Collaborating with kitchen staff to manage food inventory and minimise waste.
- Monitoring portion sizes and presentation of dishes to maintain quality control.
- Adhering to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations
THE PERSON
Although no formal qualifications are required, proven catering experience would be desired and you must hold a Level 2 in Food Hygiene.
- You must have good timekeeping and housekeeping skills
- You will have good communication skills
- Ideally having your own transport as the location can be tricky to access via public transport
- Knowledge of various cooking techniques and styles.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Strong understanding of food safety practices and hygiene standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
