Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Cable Installation Engineer / Supervisor to join our team in Prestwick, Scotland. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and optimization of data cabling infrastructure. This position also includes supervision duties, overseeing a team of technicians and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Cable Installation: Oversee and participate in the installation of data cabling systems, including fiber optic and copper cabling, ensuring all installations meet industry standards and client specifications.
- Supervision and Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of data cable installation technicians and contractors, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high standards of work and productivity.
- Assist the Project Manager: Assist the Project Manager with managing data cabling projects from inception to completion, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating with other departments and stakeholders.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Diagnose and resolve cabling issues promptly, implementing effective solutions to maintain system integrity and functionality.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all installations comply with relevant regulations and standards. Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance, and inspections.
- Safety and Risk Management: Implement and enforce safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and promote a culture of safety within the team.
- Health and Safety: Ensure all health and safety standards are met and adhered to, conducting regular safety audits and training sessions for the team.
- Customer Service: Liaise with stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure their requirements are met effectively and efficiently.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of data cabling systems and processes.
Qualifications:
- Education: Relevant technical qualification in data cabling or telecommunications.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in data cable installation, preferably within a critical infrastructure environment. Experience in a supervisory role is highly desirable.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in data cabling (e.g., BICSI, CNCI).
Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of data cabling systems, including fiber optic and copper cabling.
- Proficiency in using cable testing and certification equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective leadership and team management abilities.
- Proficient in project management and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
