Summary
We are looking to recruit an experienced, highly motivated nurse with leadership experience to join our chest clinic at Guys and St Thomas's hospital.
The Chest Clinic nurses work cross-site at Guys & St Thomas’ hospital sites to provide excellent care to our patients with a variety of respiratory conditions. The Deputy Sister/Charge nurse will work along side the Chest Clinic Sister to lead a team of nurses and healthcare assistants who work amongst all specialties to provide a high standard of care for our outpatient and day case patients. The successful candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills, as well as a passion for respiratory nursing. The successful candidate will be flexible, motivated, knowledgeable and confident to deputise for the B7 Clinic Sister. You will contribute towards the efficient operation of the clinics, and be open to change as the service continues to grow and develop.

The Chest Clinic is an exciting and dynamic clinical area that investigates and treats inpatients and outpatients from across the South East of England with a variety of respiratory conditions such as TB, lung cancer, COPD, ILD, and asthma. As well as providing routine outpatient appointments the clinical areas see patients for invasive and non-invasive day -case procedures such as medical thoracoscopy, chest drain insertion, aspiration, bronchoscopy, EBUS, biologic and cytotoxic infusion therapy, and induced sputum. We are constantly looking to develop and learn to accommodate the rapidly expanding activities of the Chest Clinics at both Guy's and St Thomas'.

• Deputise for the Chest Clinic Sister and represent the department as required.
• - Be wholly accountable for his / her practice in line with the NMC code ofprofessional conduct and takes every reasonable opportunity to sustainand improve his / her knowledge and professional competence
• Ensure that the departments have adequate resources / equipment toprovide an effective service
• Support the clinic team through the process of change,demonstrating tenacity, drive, professional integrity, balance andperspective.
• Work clinically cross-site, performing respiratory diagnostic testing, venepuncture and cannulation, administer medication via various routes, assist with admission, recovery and procedures.
• Motivate, develop, support and identify training needs for department staff.
• With support from the Clinic sister -Implement and work within the Trust’s HR policies on all staffing matters,including sickness, capability and disciplinary issues. Take correctivemeasures if indicated in liaison with Human Resources and the Chest Clinic Sister.
• Work with the Clinic sister in therecruitment, selection, appointment process and contribute to the retention of staff.
• Participate in appraisals and the setting of objectives for junior staff in thedepartment to enable them to achieve optimal effectiveness and tounderstand their contribution to the directorate.
• Contribute to theinduction programme for new starterswithin the department.
• Work with the Clinic Sister to ensure that staff attend and assist in training where appropriate onmandatory training sessions and maintain accurate records of these.
• Be proactive in the risk assessment, management, clinical incidentreporting and management of complaints.
• Contribute to the development of Directorate and Trust policies,procedures and clinical guidelines
• Undertake clinical and associated audits as appropriate for the given area.
• Proactively seek feedback on patient and public experience in order toaddress concerns in a timely manner and build on success.
• Contribute to the Maximisation of clinic space, ensuring needs of all patients and services are considered
