Summary

Support Worker – Wrexham, Full or Part-Time hours, manual UK driving license essential
We are currently recruiting kind and caring Support Workers to work for a national learning disabilities charity with local services based in Llay, Ponciau and Coed y Glynn in Wrexham. Founded in 1966, MacIntyre provides learning, support and care for more than 1,200 children, young people and adults who have a learning disability and/or autism all over the UK.

An opportunity has arisen in one of our Wrexham services, specifically for candidates who hold a UK manual driving license. This is an occupational requirement because you may be required to drive the person’s manual Mobility vehicle to the local community, such as to the shops, hospital appointments, football matches, the park, and beach etc... Due to mobility insurance requirements, you must have held your driving license for a minimum of 2 years.

You will be supporting people in their own homes to live gloriously ordinary lives. This can involve supporting someone to keep their homes clean and tidy, cook, wash, plan weekends and evenings, take care of garden space, take part in hobbies and develop new interests, access and explore their local community.

Our focus is placed on people’s wellbeing and fulfilment and this role can be extremely rewarding for someone looking to give back to their local community. If you are looking for a full or part time position and can drive a manual car, then please get in touch with us to find out more.

In Wrexham, MacIntyre Support Workers will earn an hourly rate of £12.00. If you hold an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or a higher qualification, your pay will rise to £12.20 per hour. You will have the opportunity to complete these qualifications whilst working with MacIntyre. This means, on a full-time contract, your annual salary will be £23,463 - £23,854 depending on qualifications.

In addition to your annual salary, you’ll have the opportunity to work sleep-ins** at an extra £65 per night. This adds an extra £3,380 to your annual salary if you do 1 sleep in a week. There are also often overtime hours available too!

Please note, that we are currently unable to offer sponsorships as we await further guidance from the Home Office. Applications requiring sponsorship cannot be considered at this time. We appreciate your understanding.

What do we want from you?

We are looking for people who share our values, who are warm, friendly and willing to learn, and also who celebrate people’s differences. At MacIntyre, we strive to make all of our staff feel included, valued and respected, just like the people we support.

You don't have to have any past care experience but a kind, caring, creative and patient attitude is a must. We will train you on all the formal key skills you will need in terms of Emergency first aid, safeguarding and giving medication. We hold several training courses that you will be expected to attend whilst you are working with MacIntyre, but don’t worry, you will be given plenty of notice.

You must however have a resilient, patient and compassionate attitude as there may be times when you will need to help Sarah control and regulate her emotions and anxiety in line with her Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plan. But please do not worry, full training on this will be provided.
