Summary

A specialist is sought to assist with the delivery of the Department for Business and Trade’s (DBT) programme of export support and other export and investment opportunities in the DBT Chemicals and Plastics Sector team. A core objective of this position will be to help further map the UK based chemicals manufacturers and further develop a strategy for engaging them on future overseas campaigns and exports.

Although the successful candidate will be expected to contribute / develop the chemicals export strategy aimed at assisting UK based companies to build their international business, through both exporting and overseas direct investment (ODI), the main focus of this position is expected to be on delivery of chemical exports support. The successful applicant will work with DBT Chemicals and Plastics Team, Regional and Devolved Administration colleagues and the DBT overseas network on this through:

  • Development of a strong pipeline of UK chemicals suppliers able to respond to international business opportunities;
  • Work with a range of stakeholders to further map capabilities and contacts in the UK supply chain;
  • Participation in key events in the UK and overseas promoting DBT services, and introducing international buyers to UK suppliers;
  • Assist DBT in the development and maintenance of marketing material aimed at promoting the UK to international customers;
  • Development of strong working relationships to support export delivery with core posts/countries and build new relationships as part of developing opportunities in new markets;
  • Development of strong long-term relationships with key UK chemicals exporters, relevant trade associations and cross-Government stakeholders to support the team’s work.

The Chemicals Team provides direct support to help the sector to increase exports to countries around the world. We also offer targeted support to bring in investors - and support expansion of existing investors - from many countries.
