Summary
This is a joint funded post between South London and Maudsley and South East London Integrate Care Board. This role is a key part of Lewisham borough’s Mental Health Alliance supporting the ongoing development of our collaborative model of development and delivery. The postholder will need to be able to work in a complex environment, across organisational boundaries, in order to deliver the local ambition for mental health
This pivotal role within the Lewisham borough's Mental Health Alliance is integral to supporting and advancing our collective approach to mental health development and service delivery. The individual will operate within a complex and multi-disciplinary environment, necessitating seamless collaboration across various organisational boundaries to fulfill our local mental health objectives. Key responsibilities include:
• Leading in the coordination and support of the Mental Health Alliance's planning activities, in alignment with the core leadership team. This involves orchestrating a comprehensive programme of work aimed at achieving the South East London and Lewisham core priorities, as established by the Local Care Partnerships and Integrated Care System.
• Making substantial contributions towards reducing health and wellbeing disparities across the borough, working in partnership with the broader system through the All-age Mental Health Alliance and Lewisham Health and Care Partners.
• Playing a critical role in fostering and maintaining collaborative relationships between the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM), SEL ICB, and various partners within the Lewisham Mental Health Alliance.
• Taking charge of various facets supporting the ongoing development and provision of adult mental health services through the all-age mental health alliance. This includes promoting integration and the transformation of Community Services.
SLaM's mission encompasses care and treatment, scientific research, and training. Our dedicated staff of around 5,000 serves a local population of 1.1 million across several boroughs. With over 230 services, including inpatient wards and community services, we annually support about 5,300 inpatients and treat over 45,000 community patients.
The Lewisham Mental Health Alliance has been established to lead the integration of Health and Social care provision in relation to Mental Health to ensure we work towards an integrated, person-centred and needs led approach, and establish a sustainable system of care and support for our residents and patients that experience mental health and wellbeing issues, adopting an all-age approach.
We have an ambitious plan to further reduce health inequalities, invest more in our local communities whilst working hand in hand with partners across our system to ensure that every resident in Lewisham receives the right care at the right time by the right team.
Responsibilities
The post holder will demonstrate a methodical and structured approach along with extensive project management skills and the ability to manage all aspects of the full project lifecycle:
• Providing planning and commissioning subject matter expertise to the All-age Mental Health Alliance Development and Delivery programme in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Adult Integrated Commissioning – Adult Mental Health & Wellbeing
• Supporting the prioritisation and delivery timelines, driving forward meaningful co-design and co-production with service users, carers and communities as part of Mental Health Alliance development and delivery plan in line with the NHS Long Term Plan, Joint Forward View and Fuller Report.
• Enable delivery within our Integrated Care Partnership and Integrated Care Systems, supporting development at neighbourhood, place and system level.
• Lead, direct and support clinical/ operation staff in the delivery of Transformation priorities.
• To work effectively with colleagues in SLaM and the Lewisham Adult Integrated Commissioning Team, elected members, clinical and professional leads, ICS and wider council.
• Take a lead role in working with other agencies to identify areas of joint work, service development priorities which would benefit all-age MH Alliance collaboration.
• Ensure that changes to ways of working are undertaken with identified stakeholders within the context of the place-based health and social care economy.
• To work with our All-age Mental Health Alliance partners to establish agreed system intentions, service specifications and performance management frameworks that will effectively ensure that objectives are met and sustained by our delivery partners
• To support the management and assurance of Adult Mental Health contracts and provision on behalf of the Mental Health Alliance partners irrespective of funding/commissioning responsibility
• To ensure that all key service developments and/or procurements are aligned with the New Provider Selection regime or the financial regulations of the relevant funding/commissioning authority
• Contribute to the development of a culture of service improvement.
• Expected to analyse, interpret, and compare a range of data and information to form options and outcomes for consideration.
• Use local, regional and national guidance and policy to support decision making.
• Identifying interdependencies across projects/functions, potential impacts on wider organisation, resource requirements and building in contingency and adjustments as necessary.
• Utilise planning skills to ensure that there is a robust approach to the delivery of the programme and associated projects.
• To undertake any other tasks that may be reasonably required as commensurate with the grade of the post.
