Summary

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated leader to join our management team here at Robineau, in our unique premises in Darlington. We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef to assist in the running of our very busy kitchen. Our Shop has been established since 2007 and Café since 2012, each continuing to grow in sales every year. Our business is unique in that we handmake every fresh product sold in our shop and our café. We have an outstanding reputation for quality food, presentation and service and continue to expand our loyal customer base. The shop has a delightful patisserie counter, handmade chocolates, celebration cakes, fresh savoury take away meals, artisan bakery, and a new delicatessen section with cheese, charcuterie and smoked fish. In addition to the shop, we have a twenty-six-seater café serving wonderful home cooked food; breakfasts, lunches and our beautifully presented Afternoon teas.

We are looking for a special someone with a consistent work history in high quality kitchens. This is a ‘hands on’ role working within the Savoury kitchen, preparing meals for the shop counters and busy café service. Within this role you will be assisting in the management of the kitchen, ensuring other sections, bakery and patisserie, are running smoothly. Training will be given in all other areas to enable you to manage the kitchen in the absence of the Head chef.

As Sous Chef you will be the creative lead in the Seasonal menu changes for both the café and the shop. In addition, you will be part of the team that designs and trials our product range for Valentines, Mother’s Day, Easter and Christmas brochure, from which we generate hundreds of orders every year.

Our new Sous Chef will ideally have previous management experience leading and coaching a team of people. As well as relevant experience we are looking for someone who belongs with the Robineau family, who has a genuine love of fresh food, is well presented, is a team player and delivers consistent excellent customer service from the heart.

This position is permanent with an average of 38 hours per week working straight shifts Wednesday to Saturday. Extra days and hours will be required at our busy times of the year.
