The Deaf Education Service in West Lothian supports learners across the authority with a variety of hearing impairments across ELC, Primary and Secondary as part of the Education Support Services. The teacher of the deaf will support Deaf Education Service and the line manager
The Teacher of the Deaf will work in partnership with pupils, parents/ /carers, staff, other Council Services, external agencies and the local community and they will co-operate within cluster and area arrangements, ensuring effective support and transition. It is expected that the teacher of the deaf will work with stakeholders in a consultative and empowering manner in order to set and achieve school objectives within national and local priorities, sustaining a process of continuous learning improvement.
A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.
The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18.
