Summary

The Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine is a core member of the sub-regional combined Rehabilitation Medicine and Neurology Department based at the Poole Hospital site. This department was formed in 1994 on the appointment of the recently retired Dr JPS Burn. There has been substantial expansion of the department leading to the establishment of a 12 bed Specialist Neurological Assessment and Rehabilitation unit on Portland Ward comprising five NHS England 2a specialist rehabilitation beds and a variable number of CCG funded specialist rehabilitation beds now under the care of Dr Katharine Fairbairn, Consultant in Stroke and Rehabilitation Medicine. The Rehabilitation Medicine service covers the county of Dorset through a network of community rehabilitation teams and specialist nursing homes as well as conventional outpatient and specialist clinics. The inpatient service is at a point of transition following the merger of Poole and Bournemouth Hospitals with an anticipation of significant expansion on the Poole Hospital site.

This post offers a unique opportunity to influence the further development of an already well-established and highly regarded service in a beautiful part of the country.

For an informal discussion please contact either:
