Summary
We are seeking a committed, knowledgeable and resilient individual to join our team at Peterborough City Hospital. The role of Medical Bed Capacity Manager sits within the Division of Medicine. The role will be both challenging and exciting. Whilst we face daily capacity challenges, this is one of the roles/improvement projects we are undertaking to improve the daily capacity and flow into and out of the medical bed base.
Your ability and confidence to challenge and lead teams through daily site capacity challenges and act as an expert negotiator will be vital. You will be responsible for ensuring flow is maintained. You will be able to implement and develop a range of service development initiatives directly as well as working with and through ward teams, colleagues and peers to deliver Divisional wide flow improvements.

Reporting into the Deputy Divisional Operations Director/Divisional Nursing Director for the division and working closely with the Operational, site teams, ward colleagues and clinicians, you will ensure we provide an excellent experience for our patients and meet our regulatory and operational performance metrics.

You will have day to day responsibility for the Medicine bed base. You will support with improving flow into and out of the medical bed base by (including, but not limited to the below):-
• Identifying patients who are suitable to outlie to both escalation areas and across to the HH site.
• You will actively review the PDDs of patients, to ensure that these are accurate and up to date.
• You will attend whiteboards and provide a degree of challenge to these.
• Ensure timely and appropriate use of the discharge lounge.
• Support with moving patients from ED to the Medicine base wards, between the Medicine base wards and to the Discharge lounge.
• Liaison with the site team(s) to ensure timely next steps.
