About you:


You will be articulate and friendly and enjoy working in a busy, visitor-facing environment. Energy, reliability and a keen interest in history and heritage are key qualities to bring to the role as you support the day-to-day running of the visitor attraction. You will also play a key role on keeping the building and collections safe, secure and welcoming for all our visitors.

About the role:


Reporting to the Underground Passages supervisor, tour guides are responsible delivering an experience that exceeds expectations, while also fulfilling many back-of-house and visitor facing support tasks. As part of an established team, you will be expected to lead guided tours underground to visitors of all ages and nationalities. Health & Safety is of paramount importance to us, you will need to demonstrate that you are calm under pressure.

You will also assist in the selling of entry tickets, operating a retail function and developing the underground passages offer.

Evening and week-end working is essential, and you will need to act as a key holder within a 20 minute drive of the Underground Passages. Only applicants who can meet this requirement will be considered for the role.

About the team:


The Underground Passages area unique visitor attraction , that attracts in excess of 15,000 visitors a year. Originally built to bring a fresh drinking water supply into Exeter, they have been attracting visitors since the 1930’s. Throughout the year the team offer a series of special events. The Underground Passages are designated as an Ancient Scheduled Monument, and therefore the team need to be aware of any issues relating to this medieval structure.
