Summary
We are currently recruiting for SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistants in South Yorkshire. We are working with a specialist Academy for students aged between 7-16 years old who have a diagnosis of Autism. We are looking for full time Teaching assistants, the ideal candidate would be talented, creative, and enthusiastic about being a positive role model for students.
Teaching Assistants are given an opportunity to make a positive impact on students with autistic spectrum conditions and communication and interaction difficulties.
MUST -
Be available to start early September
A successful Teaching Assistant candidate would:
Have experience as a Teaching Assistant in specialist educational settings either in mainstream schools or any other alternative provision.
A history of working as a Teaching Assistant with students with challenging behaviour, autism spectrum and complex needs.
A confident, caring, and assertive personality
What to expect as a Teaching Assistant?
Working in these settings requires patience, confidence, and a caring attitude as many of these students have difficult social, emotional, and mental health issues which need to be managed.
Many of the students will have difficulties in displaying these emotions in a productive way so the use of Team Teach positive behaviour management strategies will need to be used often.
Many of these children have low self-esteem and will require positive re enforcement from you when they display good behaviours.
