Summary


We are looking to recruit a Clinical Practice Facilitator on a Permanent Basis for our Cavendish Square site. The Royal Marsden is a centre of excellence with an international reputation for ground-breaking research, pioneering the very latest in cancer treatments and technologies.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about the education of staff within the CYP Oncology setting, with the vision and passion to optimise high-quality patient care. You will use clinical expertise and skills to ensure provision of education and learning support for our diverse workforce.

To assist the Ward Sister in managing resources within the clinical area in a cost-effective way. This includes maintaining and monitoring equipment and being proactive in managing staff rosters to minimise the use of temporary staffing.

To work with the Ward Sister to provide a clinical learning environment that enables nursing staff to develop professionally and promotes the use of evidence in practice.

The post holder is responsible for assisting the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse in the development pathways for nurses/HCSW and Nursing Associates on the ward.

This post holder will assist in supporting all nurses with and without cancer experience, particularly newly qualified nurses, whilst they become clinically competent in the care of cancer patients. They will work with these nurses in the clinical area, role modelling good practice and helping individuals to adapt their existing knowledge and skills to meet the needs of cancer patients. The foundation of this post will be enabling junior nurses to implement evidence-based practice wherever possible.

The post holder will support student nurses in the clinical environment and take on the role of a clinical assessor and supervisor in line with NMC Standards (2018)

• To work closely with the Ward/Departmental Sister/Charge Nurse to ensure that clinical standards of care are achieved within the unit and to participate in the audit of clinical care.
• To assist the Charge Nurse/Ward sister with ordering medical and pharmacy stock and to promote and manage the efficient use of supplies and equipment within the designated budget.
• It is the post holder’s responsibility to ensure that they are fully aware of the location and content of all Trust policies and procedures and comply with these as relevant to the performance of the role. Trust employees have responsibility to promote compliance with all trust policies and procedures.
• To help foster a supportive working environment and maintain staff morale.
• To coordinator and supervise a shift when requested with the support of the Ward Sister / Senior Staff Nurse.
• To assist more senior members of the nursing staff in the organization and management of the clinical area ensuring that the principles of individualized nursing care are maintained.
