Summary

To liaise with the wider clinical team, via the relevant Specialist Clinical Pharmacist to ensure that legally valid, clinically screened prescriptions for homecare medicines are made available to Homecare providers in a timely manner.

To generate orders for homecare-provided medicines in accordance with said prescriptions.

To reconcile and authorise invoices from Homecare providers, against relevant orders in accordance with documented proofs of delivery. Key Relationships Pharmacy staff across all sites. Trust Finance and Procurement staff, external NHS Supplies and Procurement Staff e.g. LPP and MPSC, homecare providers, pharmaceutical companies and wholesalers, Pharmacy Procurement managers in other Trusts, North Central London Consortium

As part of a departmental restructure and an expansion of our Homecare services, we are looking to appoint a Homecare Officer to support the existing team to manage service development.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of Hospital Pharmacy functions and can help with creating and maintaining innovative models of working more closely with specialist teams in order to meet the challenges of an ever increasing range of medicines suitable for use through homecare. The postholder will assist in ensuring that similar systems that can be expanded to other hospitals that join the Royal Free Group in the future. Occasional cross site working within this large Trust will be required.

Excellent communication skills are required to interface between specialist multidisciplinary teams and homecare providers to facilitate the introduction of medicines into the homecare workstream in accordance with any local and national standards in a timely manner.

Use the JAC Homecare Module to generate orders for delivery of medicines to Trust patients registered for homecare services in accordance with prescriptions clinically screened by pharmacist colleagues, both within and outside of the Homecare team.

Receive orders for medicines and ancillaries delivered to homecare patients on the JAC Homecare module against proofs of delivery provided by Homecare providers

Reconcile invoices for homecare medicines and ancillaries and pass them through the JAC Homecare Module for payment

Implement, organise and maintain electronic and/or paper-based systems for the efficient and accurate storage of records relating to the Homecare service, including prescriptions and orders, proofs of delivery and invoices

Maintain records of any relevant order or invoice queries
