Summary


An opportunity has arisen for a motivated clinical pharmacist who wish to develop specialist knowledge and skills in high-cost drugs provision across Endocrinology and Rheumatology. You will support specialities in ensuring cost-effective use of this group of medicines excluded from NHS tariff payment system to meet commissioner requirements.

You will have the opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary setting, liaising with clinicians, specialist nurses, as well as external organisations such as homecare providers to ensure safe, robust management of medicines to meet both clinical and patient needs.

This role will enable you to further utilise your clinical knowledge, developing your influential and critical evaluation skills to drive service improvement.

Your professionalism, excellent inter-personal skills and enthusiasm, will equip you to be a valued contributor to our service and to develop to be a key member of our Clinical Pharmacy team.

The post holder will:

Support and be directed by the Lead Pharmacist for Rheumatology & Biologics.

Optimize the use of high-cost medicines, including biosimilars and GLP-1 agonists, in Rheumatology and the Endocrine Bariatric Service.

Contribute to the safe management of medicines such as azathioprine or methotrexate that require close monitoring and titration on initiation and that are subsequently provided under shared-care arrangements.

The role will encompass collaborative working as part of the Endocrine and Rheumatology Multi-Disciplinary Teams consisting of medical, nursing and pharmacy staff and a range of Allied Health Professionals within primary and secondary care. As such the post holder will support the provision of an integrated clinical pharmacy service to dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, and rheumatology patients within the Trust.
