Summary

The Group Employer and Partnership Manager is a key strategic role within the North West Universal Credit Leadership Team, to successfully lead and co-ordinate Employer and Partnership Activity across the North West in a fast paced environment, maximising collaborative and joined up working opportunities to accomplish (where possible) mutual benefit the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) objectives and DWP Work and Health Directorate priorities.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Develop new and existing stakeholder relationships.
  • Represent DWP externally to major sub-national stakeholders, employers, non-contracted partners, DWP funded providers and Other Government Departments (OGDs).
  • Represent DWP internally on cross District or Group level matters, supporting strategic understanding their local labour markets and influencing factors in the local economy to horizon scan the Employer and Partnership agenda and drive positive outcomes for our customers.
  • Tell the story and foster open dialogue with Partners and Employers to deliver better outcomes for our customers.
  • Focus engagement on key priorities including addressing barriers to work for our customers, social justice agenda, complex needs, health and disability, welfare reforms, support for our digital agenda and preserving and enhancing DWP’s reputation.
  • Show exceptional leadership judgement, knowing when to switch from strategic thinking to operational delivery.
  • Demonstrate a successful track record of leading and landing operational performance across a large organisation, with an ability to clearly understand and articulate the impact of activities to a range of audiences.

The Group Employer and Partnership Lead is a key player in our business to provide a clear line of site to local operations through regular communications, including great story telling to foster open dialogue about the impact of our employer and partnership activity, how it fits into the Departments wider agenda, and what it means for our people delivering our service at the front line.

Part of this will be achieved through the ability to prepare and deliver presentations through a variety of mediums both internally and externally. Also, draft succinct, comprehensive, well informed communication products to a high quality, with clearly defined options and well thought out recommendations for consideration by senior leaders.

The successful candidate will analyse, evaluate and interpret information across contracted programmes and employer engagement beside other relevant information to drive innovation in the agenda and/or identify issues and proactively devise and develop options to solve problems or address areas of concern.

In terms of the working location, this job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
