Summary

Lecturer in Aspiring Managers in a Health and Social Care Setting
14.4 hours per week, fixed term until January 2025
£32,732 - £39,096 per annum pro rata

An opportunity has arisen for a 0.4 FTE (2 days per week) Lecturer within the School of Higher Education.

The role will be to deliver the Level 4 Aspiring Manager’s programme to workforce members in social care who are either new to or aspiring to be in management positions to one cohort of up to 20 workforce members. This is an external funded role, contracted with Norfolk County Council as part of the County Social Care and Health Sector Skills Partnership strategy which aims to enhance skills, excellence, and quality as well as recruitment and retention within this sector.

During 2021 to 2023, the bespoke Level 4 Aspiring Manager’s programme was developed for the social care workforce in Norfolk and Suffolk as part of the Developing Skills in Health and Social Care project, funded by the European Social Fund. The Level 4 course was very popular with over 500 social care workforce members signing up. Independent evaluation conducted by HealthWatch Suffolk reviewed the effectiveness of the programme noting the benefits of flexible training for employees and providers, culminating in the delivery of the 2024 course.

The programme consists of six carefully chosen accredited units of the Level 4 leadership and management qualification, which are then delivered with an emphasis on social care.

The role will involve online teaching for around 15 weeks (1 HE Semester). There will be some requirements to meet and deliver face to face for example for the Induction session and to support enrolment. The onboarding of candidates selected by Norfolk County Council would look to start in June 2024, with anticipated delivery from July 2024 until January 2025 (with normal summer, winter and half term breaks). The role would look to cover the preparation, teaching and assessment of the following six modules:

• Unit 2: Team Leadership in Adult Care
• Unit 4: Regulatory Processes for Adult Care
• Unit 11: Supervision and Performance Management in Adult Care
• Unit 12: Resource Management in Adult Care
• Unit 17: Manage Self for Leadership in Adult Care
• Unit 20: Innovation and Change in Adult Care

Applicants should:-

• Be occupationally qualified and knowledgeable in the area they are delivering and assessing.
• Hold a recognised assessing qualification, which could include any of the following:
• Hold a Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment;
• Hold a Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement;
• A1 Assess Learner performance Using a Range of Methods;

• Have a degree (or equivalent Level 4+ qualification) in a relevant related discipline.
• Preferably be a qualified teacher or have demonstrable experience of delivery
