Summary
‘Good quality housing is a basic human right and residents can expect to see the council work with all housing providers to make sure that everyone in Ipswich can live in a safe, quality, and affordable home’.
You will work closely with other managers within Housing Advice across Gateway to Homechoice, Temporary Accommodation and Policy and Strategy as a strategic management team to influence service delivery, achieve KPI’s and continuously seek improvements. The role includes being a Complaints Champion and completing S202 statutory reviews of homelessness decisions, monitoring standards across the service.
The primary function of the role is to manage a front-line housing advice service, prevention and relief of homelessness and the determination of any duties that may be held toward homeless households.
This post will join two existing Housing Options Managers managing the Housing Options front line service, the Rough Sleeper and Letting Experience Teams on a day-to-day basis, giving expert casework support to the officers and ensuring the smooth running of the advice service.
Housing Options Managers work closely with external statutory and non-statutory partners, forming positive and productive relationships to ensure the best possible outcomes for people experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping. Other teams include Suffolk County Council Adult and Childrens Services, National Probation Service, Domestic Abuse organisations, Refugee Support, local charities and accommodation providers to name a few.
The work is busy and varied, covering a broad range of issues that lead people to experience homelessness and delivery of preventative measures including accessing the private rented sector, delivering on grant funding, and delivering specialist services. Extensive knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, other relevant legislation and wider societal issues is essential. You will have proven leadership experience and be able to motivate and support a busy team to deliver a busy and demanding advice service.
Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday on a hybrid basis. There is an expectation of a minimum of one day a week in the office and attendance at external meetings as required.
DBS clearance is required for this role.
