Summary
The SOOD is to act as the focal point for the Air Station, and to be responsible to the Command, through the First Lieutenant, for the discipline, general organisation, security, communications and welfare of the Ship’s Company throughout their period of duty. The SOOD is expected to exercise considerable initiative, judgement and discretion when dealing with the broad range of scenarios likely to occur, both directly and indirectly affecting the operational output of the Station. This is in collaboration with other duty personnel including DATCO, DFS, Squadron and Departmental Duty Officers and Duty Instructors
