Background of Role
This exciting post is a wonderful opportunity to get involved in World Heritage Site management. The successful candidate will coordinate the implementation of the revised Canterbury World Heritage Site Management Plan. You will have experience in balancing the interests of conservation with development, in securing funding and in engaging a diverse range of interest groups. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential. In order to perform their role effectively the Coordinator will need to develop positive working relationships with a wide range of individuals in partner organisations and beyond.
We are looking for a candidate who is educated to degree level or equivalent, comfortable planning, organising and prioritising work whilst exercising judgment in the face of competing pressures, you’re not afraid to think laterally and develop and apply new professional concepts. You’ll also need a sound understanding of heritage management, land management, landscape and nature conservation and a flair for speaking in public, in order to represent the interests of the WHS. Proficient in IT and aware of digital media as an essential communication tool, your ability to be a good advocate, elicit information and facilitate debate is also important.
The post is based at Canterbury Christ Church University within the Canterbury World Heritage Site and we are committed to supporting flexible working relationships wherever possible.
