We’re looking for an experienced Head of Business Development to head up our business development function and play a pivotal role in driving our revenue expansion across both Levy Merchandising and our SUDU brand.
In this role, you’ll create, lead and execute an effective Sales and Business Development strategy across the UK and our target global markets. You’ll be a true seller with the ability to listen, engage and influence at all levels. We’re a new and growing business and this role will give the right candidate the unique opportunity to shape our Business Development function from scratch and build their team as our revenue grows.
The role will include travel, both domestically and internationally.

Levy Merchandising is the merchandising arm of Levy UK & Ireland. Levy UK & Ireland are a market leader in the world of sports and entertainment experiences, boasting some of the biggest and best stadiums and leisure locations in Europe as its venue partners. These include Ajax’s Johan Cruyff Arena, the All-England Lawn Tennis Club, The O2 Arena, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the National Theatre to name just a few. At Levy Merchandising, we design and manufacture a wide range of product direct from source. From technical products, fit for the highest level of performance, through to non-technical fanwear, we produce apparel at all levels of the product pyramid. We also source a comprehensive range of non-clothing products to complete the full range of categories available across the sales channels.

What you’ll do:
- Manage the full sales lifecycle from identifying opportunities, first appointment and proposal compilation through to presentation and following successful bids to secure signed contract and hand over to the operational team.
- Manage the bidding and internal approval process to ensure commercially sound, competitive and profitable financial deals.
- Proactively seek and identify sales to ensure we maximise all opportunities for new business growth.
- Grow revenue/market share for merchandise, whilst supporting stadia, arena and conference centre business growth, where appropriate.
- Develop and deliver a Sales & Business Development strategy that maximises potential sales and profitability.
- Propose and gain agreement for tender submissions that cover the needs and expectations of all internal and external stakeholders.
- Close new business opportunities to achieve annual sales target for both revenue and profit.
- Develop business in new markets and look for new growth opportunities.
- Report the performance of the Sales team submissions and the provision of management recommendations to meet KPI targets.
- Support the provision and continued development of a supply chain solution in our tender bid submissions that meets our compliance principles.
- Ongoing ownership and development of the early stage of the client relationship, prior to handing over to the Partnerships team.
- Gather industry/market insights and intelligence and client requirements to support the Product Development team in the continual development of our value proposition.
- Develop successful client and consultant relationships.
- Cultivate a sales-driven culture to expand our client base.
This role would suit people who have/are:
- Previous experience in a senior Business Development role in a large, complex, fast-paced organisation.
- Experience of managing the end-to-end sales process and a proven track record of pipeline development and of exceeding sales targets.
- Knowledge of selling contracted services within the merchandise, retail and sports industries.
- A passion for merchandise and experience of operating or selling within the Retail sector.
- Our tender processes can be complex, so an eye for detail, a sound commercial understanding and an ability to manage multiple steps of a process and multiple stakeholders is critical.
- Target focused.
- Strong leadership skills and experience of leading both co-located and remote teams.
- Strong thought leadership traits with the ability to successfully drive changes to business processes.
- Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Strong ownership orientation and comfort with ambiguity.
- Entrepreneurial spirit/attitude.
- Previous European market experience is desirable but not essential.
