Based at: Chesterfield, Derby or Nottingham with agile working. Additional travel required

1. WHY THE POST EXISTS

Are you an enthusiastic and organised individual? Do you have background in organising workshops and events? Can you communicate effectively and vary your approach to suit the audience? Can you adhere to guidelines, deadlines, operate professionally and have a high level of attention to detail? If so, you could be our next Events & Engagement Officer.

As part of our funded events team, you will promote and administer a range of events, including in-person workshops and online webinars across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. This role will plan, complete administration for, generate bookings for, deliver, host and evaluate business events to achieve delegate satisfaction and event outcomes.

You will be a strong communicator with excellent organisation and IT skills with previous experience of delivering events for businesses. Recording information accurately in a timely manner via the Chamber’s customer relationship management system is essential.

2. THE KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

- Proactively promote services by contacting potential beneficiaries and recording activity and opportunities via the programme CRM system.
- Account manage business delegates ensuring timely and accurate information is collected and recorded.
- Identify suitable topics that satisfy business needs and attract an audience.
- Liaise with venues, exhibitors, colleagues, and third parties to deliver a quality experience.
- Set up and host events ensuring that the agenda runs smoothly, delegates are satisfied and the wider project is positively promoted.
- Deliver high quality events that meet business needs within the geography.
- Initiate bookings and referrals with potential programme customers over the phone.
- Help secure the service’s future by maximising quality outputs at every stage.
- Attend business support networking meetings to actively showcase the events programme to businesses.
- Organise and develop own resources and effective time management that benefits the delivery of the service.
- Regularly monitor event evaluation feedback and take action as necessary to ensure consistently high customer satisfaction rates.
- Provide referrals to advisers and other business support providers where appropriate.
- Use social media channels including LinkedIn and Facebook to actively promote events and encourage bookings and during events to showcase delivery.
- Occasional out of hours work will be required (i.e. evenings and early mornings).

3. IDEALLY APPLICANTS WILL POSSESS

- Relevant and demonstrable experience of organising and delivering business events.
- An understanding of SME business needs.
- Telesales experience with a confident telephone manner.
- Previous experience of supporting publicly funded events.
- Social media marketing experience for business use.
- Experience of creating strong and engaging content.
- Qualities such as being driven, highly motivated and dependable.
- Strong communication skills and a good use of English, in writing and verbally.
- Excellent administration skills.
