Summary
Recruitment Co are currently working a leading provider of Scientific and Research services, we are currently seeking a Grassland Technician on a temporary basis.
Duties will include:
- Day-to-day management and implementation of specific grassland research studies being conducted within the Dairy Research Group. This will involve working with scientists and the Dairyn Technical Manager to manage trials in line with experimental protocols and all legislative requirements, work with technical and industrial staff to implement experiments on a day-to-day basis, and ensuring data is recorded accurately and in the correct format.
- Conduct research across a broad range of grassland areas focusing primarily on sward and livestock production and management and environmental issues (including gaseous emissions).
- The post will also involve working with large data sets. The jobholder will be required to assist with accurate data collation and storage from a range of sources. Excellent computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel are required.
- The post-holder will be required to support and work alongside teams of technical and industrial staff to ensure correct implementation of experimental protocols.
- Liaise with the AFBI laboratory to schedule timely delivery and analysis of samples. Assist in preparing the unit for visiting groups.
Specific duties will include:
- the implementation of detailed experimental protocols to ensure that these are effectively followed on the ground; assist with the day-to-day implementation of research programmes, including undertaking measurements and sample collection, as and when necessary; ensure that research programmes across the unit are conducted to the highest possible standard, and that Standard
- Operating Procedures are followed accurately.
- The job holder will be required to prepare and summarise data and written material for scientific papers, to prepare update reports as required for research programmes.
Criteria:
An Honours degree (or working towards) in a scientific discipline related to agriculture, animal science, biological science or a related natural science discipline;
Demonstrable computer skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel are required;

Excellent communication skills.
Have full driving licence that enables them to undertake the responsibilities of the role.
Able and willing to undertake overtime during weekends, holiday periods, early mornings and into
the evenings on a rota basis. Overtime is requirement of the role.
