Summary


We are looking for motivated and proactive Assistant Psychologist to join our Major Trauma Centre at St George’s Hospital. This role provides an opportunity to work with patients with serious and life changing injuries, their families and staff members working within the Major Trauma service.

The post holder will have the opportunity to work alongside clinical psychologists and other members of the multidisciplinary team and contribute to the implementation of the Integrated Psychological Model of Care pilot.



This new role will support the delivery of the expected outcomes of the model:
1. Improving care quality and outcomes for trauma patients, not limited to psychological outcomes but including patient and carer experience, return to work and education
2. Improving clinical outcomes as patients are:1. supported with treatment adherence
2. supported to engage in Trauma rehab
3. supported to manage their mental health
4. receiving interventions from psychological specialists with expertise in both psychological/mental health and Trauma rather than generalists.
3. Greater consistency in care and provision of psychological support across MTCs in line with evidence based/best practice guidance.
4. Consultation, liaison, and training of other staff across the pathway (Doctors, Nurses, Trauma Coordinators) to enhance psychological understanding and skills of other professionals seen by the patient.
5. Providing London with a comprehensive psychological response service for major incident and terrorist events.
