Summary

Main objective of the position:
Operate specialist Bauer type cable and hydraulic Grabs safely and effectively on foundation/geotechnical projects.

Key Responsibilities:
 Operate Bauer grabs safely and effectively for the propose of constructing piles;
 Ensure the Grab is operating efficiently and maintained as required;
 Report and record condition of machine daily, reporting defects to Site Supervision & Chief Mechanic;
 Recording details of piles being constructed;
 Monitor and maintain condition of the grab;
 Monitor condition of piling platform.

Key Tasks:
 Construct panels in accordance with site schedule;
 Assist mechanics on mobilising and demobilising Grabs on site;
 Maintain Grabs condition both internal and external and ensure it is kept to the highest standards;
 Supply daily check records of Grabs to site supervisor;
 Supply panel records to site supervisor;
 Communicate with mechanics of any issues or condition of machine;
 Communicate with site welder of any issues or condition of grab teeth.

 Demonstrate a high level of skill and be recognised as an expert in their field;

 Strong communication skills and English speaking;
 Familiarity and experience in the use of Bauer Grabs;
 Diaphragm wall experience must include the installation of deep panels into challenging ground conditions with support fluids (Bentonite & Polymer);
 Proven ability to understand the technical requirements of the project solution, identification and management of key critical success factors;
 CPCS Crane or/and Piling rigs: Above 20 Tonnes or an equivalent recognised accreditation;
 Basic mechanical knowledge of Bauer equipment.

Experience:
 Proven experience as a piling Grab operator;
 Must have experience operating Bauer type Grabs in support fluids, both Bentonite and polymer.

Desirable attributes:
 Experience in more than one piling discipline;
 CPCS Crawler Crane card;
 IPAF Card;
 GCSE English & Maths (or able to demonstrate a reasonable level of literacy and numeracy);
 Computer literate (Microsoft Excel and word).
