An exciting opportunity has arisen at Lancashire Renewables Ltd for 5 individuals to join the Leyland and Thornton Operations and Maintenance teams as Shift Engineering Team Leaders (2 positions at Thornton facility, 3 positions at Leyland facility).

Who are we?

Lancashire Renewables Ltd was established for the operation and management of the two waste treatment facilities built for the Lancashire Waste Contract.

Our two facilities in Thornton and Leyland are manned 365 days a year. Both sites can process over 5,000 tonnes of residual (black bin bag) waste per week and divert 95% of this material away from landfill.

Our aim is to achieve a sustainable future for Lancashire by providing services to process biodegradable and non-biodegradable community waste and our people are vital in helping us achieve this.

Job Summary:

As a Shift Engineering Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the continuity of Lancashire Renewable’s Operations, leading a small team of maintenance and operations staff working on the 5-shift system.

This position encompasses diverse responsibilities across multiple functions within the company, requiring flexibility and adaptability to meet operational demands, and during periods outside of core operating hours will assume responsibility for the site / teams. Operating in accordance with our policies, procedures, and safety protocols, the post holder will lead a team to uphold safety standards, optimize production processes and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Whilst training and development is provided and encouraged, please see below for the minimum requirements of the role:
• GCSE Qualification in Maths and English
• Education to ONC / HNC Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience with supporting qualifications
• Recognised Health & Safety Qualification (IOSH)
• Knowledge of processing applications and equipment within a waste treatment facility, chemical or manufacturing industry
• Ability to plan and co-ordinate work schedules, prioritise tasks and ensure resources are allocated effectively.
• Adept at identifying issues, analysing root causes, and implementing solutions to overcome challenges and keep operations running smoothly
• Proven capability & competence in engineering and maintenance, and the inspection and maintenance of waste processing machinery and facility infrastructure systems.
• ICT skills - including Microsoft Office applications (word, excel and power point).
• Report writing, presentation and effective communication.
• Business system awareness
