Summary


The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Library provides a comprehensive service to all Trust staff, and serves the staff from local primary care, public health, social care and local authority partners. A service is provided to students on placement – principally from Brunel University, Bucks New University, and Imperial College School of Medicine. The library is based in the Education Centre and there is close liaison with the other staff in the centre.



The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is located within the North West London ICS and the library plays a key role in the work of the sector’s library network.



The mission of The Knowledge and Library Service is to facilitate the local implementation of aims and objectives of NHS England’sKnowledge for Healthcare (KfH) strategy, so that “NHS bodies, their staff, learners, patients and the public use the right knowledge and evidence, at the right time, in the right place, enabling high quality decision-making, learning, research and innovation, to achieve excellent healthcare and health improvement.”



The Library Services Manager will plan and set goals and objectives for the future of Library Services, determining what is needed to meet organisational priorities and realise the vision of the KfH strategy. They are responsible for the strategic development, organisation, management and delivery of Library Services, ensuring they support all employees of the Trust and other designated users in their delivery of high-quality health care to patients and their education, training and research needs.



The post-holder will manage the Library Team and be responsible for budgetary control and will:



· Oversee Library Services’ facilities and any building moves / adaptations as required by the service.



· Manage the library space and ensure there is a suitable learning environment which supports study, research and health and wellbeing. This responsibility includes activities such as monitoring statistics, developing work plans, managing facilities and supervising operations on a day-to-day basis.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
