Band 8B Principal Practitioner Psychologist – Cardiovascular Rehabilitation

Are you interested in working with an established MDT keen to have practitioner psychology time included in the way that care is provided to their patients (both through direct and indirect approaches)?

Are you ready to develop further clinical leadership skills, particularly in supporting service development?

You will be well supported but with the autonomy to take this role in the direction required to make a difference to patient care.

You will work alongside and offer support and supervision to an assistant psychologist.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of and enthusiasm for working within physical health psychological services/medical MDTs and will provide a service of specialist assessment, consultation and intervention, working with a team of multidisciplinary staff.

This exciting opportunity includes working in partnership with Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) to contribute at a senior level to the delivery of high quality, psychologically informed care within a cardiovascular MDT. The role includes a particular focus on establishing strong evidence of the utility and value of including practitioner psychologist time to attempt to secure permanent funding.

There are excellent opportunities within the service to become involved with service developments and with audit and research projects. The service has close links with Lancaster and Liverpool Doctorate Training Programmes and GMMH is the Host Trust for the Manchester Doctorate Programme.

You will be joining a well-developed group of practitioner psychologists working within physical health psychological services. The post holder will be based at Wythenshawe Hospital. You would be supported by a senior practitioner psychologist working in physical health psychological services and have access to appropriate supervision.
