An exciting opportunity has arisen within the department for an enthusiastic, well organised individual to become part of our administration team.
The Post holder will assist the Histo/Molecular liaison Officer to continue providing a flowing pathway between the Histopathology department in Chelsea to the Centre of Molecular Pathology in Sutton. The efficiency and collaborative communication and coordination for further analysis between department is essential for a smooth and outstanding service. Ability to communicate effectively, working all times with a high degree of discretion and initiative, respect confidentiality and attention to detail all times are essential.
The professional should be able to respond positively and promptly to enquires and incoming calls/emails and acting on queries as soon as possible, or appropriate redirection to other senior staff if necessary.
The Clinical Genomics Liaison Assistant will be expected to work on their own initiative, seeking advice and guidance where necessary from Histo/Molecular liaison Officer.

This position is office based and full time at the Chelsea site, working hours between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday. Part time working will also be considered.

The post holder will support the Histopathology/ clinical genomics liaison officer and will liaise with departmental and external staff to ensure diagnostic samples are sent to clinical genomics to ensure diagnostic testing is provided in a timely manner.



The post holder will be required to liaise with clinical multi-disciplinary teams to ensure service provision demands are met.



The post holder will assist in managing the administration and maintenance of effective systems within the department to enable the efficient running of the administration and communication systems between the clinical teams and histopathology, when ordering clinical genomics requests



The post holder will be responsible for all administration and clerical functions associated with clinical genomics referral pathway for histopathology samples including (not exhaustive), receipt of requests (electronically, verbally or paper copy), data entry of requests and clinical information onto department database (EPIC), collating all relevant information to enable genomic testing, tracking samples through the entire review process, timely transport of samples to clinical genomics, requesting and returning material to external institutions.



The post holder is responsible for ensuring that all information is available to ensure timely transfer of all material required to enable clinical genomics to proceed with diagnostic testing.

· To work autonomously and take responsibility for ensuring all material is transported to clinical genomics within a timely manner.



· To maintain the day to day management of the pathology review process within the Histopathology department.



· To assist in the preparation and transport of clinical material as directed by the Histopathology/ Clinical Genomics Liaison officer or any other appropriate person.

· To participate in material management including retrieval of material from department filing system and return material to external diagnostic institutions, as directed.

· To proactively manage the diagnostic pathways, identify potential issues and liaise with consultant pathologists and the laboratory team to ensure cases are actioned within appropriate timeframes.
