We are currently recruiting for a Learning and Development Manager to join our friendly and welcoming team within National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) coordinating centre in Southampton. Now is a great time to join the team as we continue to invest into and develop our workforce- and you could play a crucial role in this!

Who are we?

The NIHR funds, enables, and delivers world-leading health and social care research that improves people's health and wellbeing and promotes economic growth. Our research helps turn discoveries into new or improved treatments, diagnostics, medical technologies, and services. It provides those working in the NHS, public health, global health, and social care with the evidence they need to better support patients, the public and people who need care.

What will you do?

You will be responsible for the strategic direction and operational delivery of the learning and development components of our strategic workforce plan. You will lead the development of a programme of training and development including the design, commission and evaluation of organisation-specific learning and development opportunities.

You will work closely with colleagues within the organisation and particularly within our people services team, to ensure delivery of the workforce plan.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with detailed knowledge of strategic learning and organisational development. You will be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and being reactive to changing needs. Some of the key skills required to be successful in this role include:

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and respond according to their needs.
Proactive in your approach to work and able to work effectively with colleagues to achieve the desired outcome.
Good influencing and negotiating skills to develop understanding and gain co-operation from others
Why Join us?

Your dedication deserves recognition. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, encompassing generous annual leave, family-friendly policies, a robust pension plan, and more- the full details can be found here!

We also recognise our staff are at the heart of what we do so we make sure we look after you! Staff wellbeing is a key priority for us and this is reflected in our recent award as Top Medium Employer in the Mind Workplace Wellbeing awards, achieving Gold for the fourth year in a row!

Our hybrid working approach helps you with your work life balance and offers you the chance to split your time between office and home working. We strive for cohesive and collaborative teams so our expectation is you spend around 20% of your time in the office. We also value flexibility and may accommodate part-time arrangements- please contact us to discuss any specific requirement.
