Summary
The post holder is responsible for developing and managing medical physics business activities and systems to ensure delivery of its strategic and operational objectives in line with the Directorate objectives and business plan as well as Trust objectives and key performance indicators. The post involves management support across the medical physics scientific system activities, involving significant quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The post holder will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of a Quality Management System for Medical Physics compliant with the BS70000 accreditation standard.
As a key member of the senior Medical Physics management team, the post holder will work closely with the Director of Medical Physics & Bioengineering and Group Heads to ensure efficient and effective management of all resources to deliver safe, high quality and effective service to the Trust, its patients, and external customers in an environment of continuous improvement.
In addition to performance management monitoring, the post holder will be designing and implementing systems and quality management procedures and will ideally have applied working knowledge of quality management systems and accreditation standards applicable to clinicals scientific areas. A working knowledge of medical physics activities pertaining to ionising and non ionising radiation safety activities would be desirable
• Build & develop appropriate managerial frameworks to enable the ongoing delivery of effective services within a BS 70000 Quality Management System and continual improvement within Medical Physics.
• Work with the Medical Physics groups & Director to formulate and implement the Business Plan for the area of responsibility, ensuring that account is taken of professional, national, and local standards, evidence-based practice, legislation, capacity and capability issues and the views of all stakeholders in the process.
• Analyse and interpret a wide range of complex information, to continuously monitor the operational and financial performance of the Trust’s Radiation Safety System, prepare and present options for improvement and ensure that corrective action is taken promptly when progress against plan is not as expected. There will frequently be incomplete information and competing views to be resolved.
• Responsible for ensuring that there are appropriate governance arrangements in place across Medical Physics and oversee performance in all Groups, challenging and supporting areas where non-compliance is identified to rectify accordingly.
• Advise on compliance with corporate governance, systems, and processes, escalating governance and risk matters as they are identified.
