DEPARTMENT OF MOLECULAR & CLINICAL CANCER MEDICINE
RESEARCH ASSISTANT – GRADE 6
£32,333 - £37,100 pa
We are looking for a talented and highly motivated researcher assistant to join our tumour microenvironment team at the University of Liverpool. You will work on a project that aims to characterise immune cells present in the human and murine tissues of pancreatic cancer. To conduct this project, we are using different technologies, including flow and mass cytometry, immunohistochemistry, and preclinical models. You will play a critical part in this larger research programme by supporting ongoing experiments and conducting your own experiments. You will learn new skills and research techniques from senior lab members of the team and thus this represent a great training opportunity for biomedical students who have just finished their MSc or MRes training in a relevant discipline and are now keen to gain research experience. Beside conducting lab-based experiments, you will also take on the lab manager role for our team. The lab manager role will take up around one day per week (0.2 FTE). As lab manager, your will order research reagents, arrange lab maintenance, and liaise with our institute core technical team and institute finance team.
Our team is part of the Department of Molecular and Clinical Cancer Medicine, and the Institute of Systems, Molecular & Integrative Biology (ISMIB), University of Liverpool, UK. ISMIB offers a number of high-quality shared facilities, which will be used to complete the project. You will interact and collaborate with scientists and clinicians with diverse backgrounds inside and outside the department and take part in research activities that include cancer biology and the analysis of patient samples.
You should have a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences or related discipline.
The post will start on 1 September 2024 and end on the 31 August 2025 (but could be extended upon availability of funding).
