Summary

Are you looking for a Postdoctoral Scientist role to develop new treatments for influenza?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for the postholder to work in an ambitious and supportive team at the Centre for Medicines Discovery, Nuffield of Department Medicines.

You will be responsible to design and synthesis small molecules using structure activity relationships and protein-ligand co-crystal structures. You will provide support in analysing spectroscopic and screening data relating to synthesis and biological activity. You will contribute to wider project planning, includes ideas for new research projects and generating research income. You will collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and journal article and communicate effectively on a daily basis with the internal and external network of scientist. Additionally, you will provide regular updates on the scientific data and act as a source of information advice to other members of the group.

To be successful in this role, it is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in organic or medicinal chemistry or a related discipline together with demonstrable experience in small molecule synthesis and characterization. You will be able to manage your own academic research and administrative activities together with excellent communication skills and familiarity with chemistry drawing packages such as Word, Excel and others. Having experience working with small molecule inhibitors is desirable.
