University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a new consultant interventional radiologist to our current dynamic and friendly team. This is a replacement post for a departing colleague therefore the role is primarily vascular interventional radiology.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide aortic and peripheral vascular (both arterial and venous) intervention, including thoracic aortic stent grafting, to support existing vascular interventional colleagues and enable the provision of vascular/ aortic on call. They should also be able to provide a broad range of interventions, including embolotherapy. Interventional oncology interests would be encouraged.

The job will entail providing 24/7 IR on call for vascular and non-vascular interventional emergencies including but not limited to embolotherapy for trauma (Southampton General Hospital is the regional major trauma centre), GI/abdominal haemorrhage and post-partum haemorrhage, aortic intervention (EVAR and TEVAR), nephrostomies, and image-guided sepsis drainage procedures.

The job also involves some general inpatient abdominal radiology, including CT and US and CT/US-guided intervention, in addition to subspecialist vascular imaging.

We are a BSIR Exemplar site. Amongst other services we are an established supra-regional centre for vascular malformations and liver oncology.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO:



The appointed Consultant Interventional Radiologist will:

· Contribute to the high-quality consultant-led interventional radiology imaging service provided at UHS.

· Share in the 24/7 cover of the service, including on call on a rota basis (intended to be 1 in 8 with prospective cover)

· Develop specialist skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and support regional tertiary services.

· Along with their consultant colleagues, provide clinical supervision of radiology trainees.

Some duties may be provided by offsite working.
