Summary


Applications are invited for two Clinical Fellow (Core) posts in Haematology equivalent to CT1-2 at Addenbrooke’s Hospital to commence from 07 August 2024 until 05 August 2025.

The job is predominantly based on the Haematology inpatient wards or the day unit, and normally rotate between these posts at 6 months to ensure the full breadth of haematology is covered.

This post includes the day to day care of day cases and in patients - not only of those undergoing intensive therapies for haematological malignancies and cellular therapies including CAR T, but also those with non-malignant Haematological problems such as Haemolysis, Sickle Cell Disease, Haemophilia, etc. It may include some care of patients attending the Apheresis Service and those presenting with haematological emergencies.

Experience in a wide range of practical techniques including bone marrow aspiration and lumbar puncture is offered, and there is opportunity for regular participation in departmental seminars, audit, and teaching.

This post may attract a supplement for out of hours cover of Haematology and Oncology inpatients according to an on-call rota.

The duties of the post include the day to day care of patients under the care of the Haematology team. This includes not only patients undergoing intensive therapies for haematological malignancies and bone marrow transplantation but also non-malignant disorders such as haemolysis, haemoglobinopathies and haemophilia.

In order to be considered, applicants must have completed their Foundation Year Two competencies, with a minimum of one year’s experience in Adult General Medicine. MRCP part 1, or equivalent, is desirable. NHS experience for a minimum of 6 months is essential.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.

This post may be suitable for those wishing to undertake an “F3” role or to gain further experience in haematology prior to registrar training.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
