Summary


This is a 12 month fixed term Teaching Fellow post for the Derbyshire Children’s hospital based at the Royal Derby from the 7th August 2024 until the 5th August 2025, supporting Provision of a Paediatric Urgent and Emergency Care service for Southern Derbyshire & the surrounding areas.

Any applicant unable for personal reasons to work full time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed; modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Associate Director, but the out of hours commitment is fixed.

Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of the Paediatric Service with regard to Emergency and Neonatal intensive care

To support the senior decision making in the Children’s Emergency Department and on the General Paediatric Wards

Teaching & training of junior staff, medical students

To actively participate in both departmental & Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance & audit.

To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).

The individual appointed will be expected to work as part of a friendly and enthusiastic team responsible for delivering high-quality and innovative teaching to 144 final year medical students (Advanced Practice 1) during a 6 month period (February to September) in four 6-week blocks. The students will undertake a 6-week block of training in child health and are expected to cover a comprehensive syllabus.

Our teaching is currently delivered as a combination of case based discussion groups, workshops, webinars, simulation and bedside teaching. Clinical teachers will be expected to assist with all forms of teaching and assessment during each rotation.

We also provide several Special Selected Module (SSM) opportunities between October and February.
