Youth Education Service (YES) Support and Progression Coach
We are excited to be recruiting into YES. This new role is the missing piece to offering the most deserving young people the best chance at being successful in education and employment. The successful applicant will be trained to use psychologically informed techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support YES students to thrive in their education at YES and access sustainable employment opportunities beyond their time at YES, through using a relationship-based and trauma informed approach.
YES, a registered alternative learning provision (ALP) which offers English and Maths functional skills tuition and/or qualifications in small friendly classes, or 1:1, to 16-25 year olds experiencing barriers to their learning. This role has been created to offer 1:1 tailored support to young people to overcome physical or emotional barriers to attending through using ACT techniques.
Please find full details of how to apply via our website in the advert below. The deadline for application submissions is 23:59, Tuesday 25th June 2024.
We are striving to better represent the young people we support and therefore are particularly keen to increase applications from minoritized ethnic groups, Muslim and male candidates as they are currently under-represented in our organisation. We also encourage applications from people with relevant lived experience.
If you need an adjustment to be made to any part of the recruitment process, please let us know as soon as possible.
Who are we?
We are a leading youth homelessness charity based in the Southwest, working with over 1,500 young people. At 1625ip we are driven by Social Justice and Passion: we strive to do something that matters and take pride in seeing the results of our work in social outcomes and improving young people’s lives.
What you will be doing:
By adopting a flexible and creative approach, you will enable young people to improve their confidence and wellbeing and overcome physical barriers (such as travel) to empower them to consistently engage in their education.
You will use your experience of consistent and effective partnership working and strong communication skills to engage referral partners, other support services internal and external to 1625ip, and employers.
You will be part of a passionate team of people surrounding each young person, providing holistic and specialist support adapted to meet the needs of each individual.
By being empathetic and truly understanding the complex needs of our students, you will work with them 1:1 to create realistic and ambitious progression plan.
Being well organised and efficient, you will effectively record, and evidence education, employment and wellbeing outcomes achieved by young people, ensuring safe working practice, and contributing to our effort to secure future funding of the project.
If you have transferrable skills and you are interested in this role, but you are worried about the application process, please get in touch with us. We encourage you to have an informal chat with the recruiting manager to discuss how your personal or professional experience and skills could be transferred to this role. Details of how you can do that are further down in this advert.
