We are pleased to announce we are recruiting for a Care Experience Students Welfare Officer (Looked After Children) to join our dedicated Students Services team, reporting into the Assistant Principal of Student Services. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity.
The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with the local authority and schools prior to students joining the College. You will work with the students to give them the required support and advice at all stages in the learner journey as part of Sandwell College.
The person in this role will be required to implement strategies to encourage and enable learner engagement. You will be able to make strong cooperative links with stakeholders, outside partners and the other professionals in young people’s lives and make the college a key element of their success by proactively engaging in their support and education.
To be successful, you will hold an English and Maths GCSE or equivalent and have experience of working with learners/young people and case management. You will be an excellent communicator (oral and written) and work well independently. Experience of working with Care Experienced young people and training in child protection/safeguarding procedures would be advantageous.
