The Role

Housing Officers are responsible for the delivery of a frontline quality housing, estate and property management services to our customers. The postholder will ensure tenants are supported to sustain their tenancies and positively contribute to the communities in which they manage.
The successful candidate will provide a professional, effective, and responsive arrears management service to tenants. Using skills, knowledge, and experience to contribute to any policy/procedural reviews and working towards key performance indicators which includes the implementation of Arrears policy and procedure and effectively managing all current and other tenant debt.
The role involves carrying out the void management process which includes processing tenancy termination requests and pre-termination visits as well as provide the outgoing tenant with information in relation to the termination standards and potential rechargeable repairs.
The postholder will carry out regular checks to ensure tenants are fully compliant with the terms and conditions of the tenancy agreement which includes conducting settling-in visits and provide welfare rights advice. In addition, regular checks on our estates are required to ensure that they are managed and maintained to an acceptable standard and fully compliant with our landlord responsibilities.
A significant proportion of work will be out-with the office environment, post holders will be required to hold a current driver's licence and have their own transport or access to equivalent transport which will enable you to meet the specific role requirements to travel.
About You
You will have a minimum of 2 qualifications at SCQF Level 6, e.g. Highers or equivalent experience as well as having a relevant Housing qualification or willingness to undertake the qualification.
Practical experience of dealing with the full range of Housing Management duties (including Allocations, Tenancy Management, Rent Arrears, Void Management, Repairs, Tenant Participation and Estates Management) is required for this role. Extensive working knowledge of housing and associated legislation is also required.
It is essential that you have experience of working within a RSL or Local Authority and have working knowledge of allocations and letting systems.
You will have experience of budgetary control and working knowledge of welfare benefits and debt counselling.
