Hours per week: 36.25 Monday - Friday, 8.45am to 5pm

Role Length: This opening assignment is for 1-2 months

The purpose of the role is to provide an effective and professional HR Service to our Housing and other service areas covering a full generalist remit including Employee Relations, Performance and Attendance management, Disciplinary and grievance matters, change management, Restructures, Pay and Grading, Recruitment and Employee Development. Design and delivery of Trade Apprenticeships and employee inductions.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility is to meet the Human Resource needs of Heads of Service and managers to ensure the operational delivery of the service functions, this will include work with a variety of professional and trade/craftsperson teams.
Support effective consultation processes including formal meetings, to encourage and embed a culture of putting council tenants and customers at the heart of everything we do, and to support the delivery of service plans.
Provide an effective advisory support service to managers in meetings and investigations covering attendance, performance, grievance and disciplinary situations.
Make amendments and additions to the HR/Payroll system to ensure changes to contracts and other relevant events are accurately reflected in the payments made to employees.
Provide support in delivering training and other events.
Maintain an awareness of best HR practice and professional developments.
Support other members of the HR team, working in other Council departments as needed.
Support recruitment and selection processes
Support on-boarding processes for permanent and agency employees.

Qualifications:

Generalist HR experience at a senior level, and fully qualified to CIPD standard level 5.



Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Experience of working with computer software packages, particularly the Microsoft Office suite (or equivalent), bespoke payroll systems, databases and e-learning systems (or ability to be able to learn these quickly).
High level of computer literacy, able to learn new software packages quickly and able to support other employees in their use.
Proficient in use of HR management systems such as I-Trent (Training will be provided).
Able to effectively manage caseload and provide regular monthly report and statistical analysis relating to absence, training, disciplinary and development activities across the various Teams.
Strong interpersonal skills with excellent spoken and written communication skills.
Able to be flexible about working hours where there is a requirement to complete work to a deadline.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
