An Independent Living Handyperson is required to cover the Stratford upon Avon / South Warwickshire area. To provide a localised handy person service to sheltered and extra care schemes within a region. The handy person will support the customers by completing small repairs in and around the customers home that customers have responsibility for, and which may affect their safety, security and comfort while living in the scheme. To provide a high standard cleaning service to communal areas in blocks including lifts, stairwells, floors, walls and windows.

Key responsibilities:

Assist and encourage residents in completing minor repairs and jobs in the home, and deal with day to day maintenance issues across Independent Living schemes and the wider community.
Responsible for providing a high standard cleaning service to communal areas in blocks including lifts, stairwells, floors, walls and windows. To maintain clear, tidy and safe refuse areas such as bin stores, chute rooms and hoppers, following specific cleaning specifications and standards.
Responsible for reporting faults and repairs, situations concerning anti-social activity, fly tipping as seen on the estates to the CSC.
Undertake external work within schemes and customer’s properties.
Ensure accurate records are kept and all allocated work is completed to a high standard within a timely manner.
Assist other members of the Independent Living team with Health and Safety checks and other scheme-based tasks, ensuring all relevant policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.

Qualifications:

Hold a full UK driver’s license.



Experience:

Experience of working in a similar role.
Experience of trade background desirable.
Experience of carrying out a wide range of small repairs and adaptations.
Knowledge of Health and Safety and ability to write risk assessments.
Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Knowledge and/or experience of the issues faced by older people or vulnerable groups.



Skills & Abilities:

Ability to negotiate with and influence the customer with the aim of delivering assistance and improving the quality of life for the individual in question.
Possess a pleasant and caring disposition.
Able to work on own initiative.
Ability to maintain accurate records both written and electronically.
Excellent standard of reading, writing and numeracy.
Competent user of ICT, with the ability to send emails, compose and print letters, complete online forms and be able to use in-house IT packages.
